Fantastic work out for everyone December 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD last year and have basically done the Aeroburn and Beatbox sections for the past 12 months without is getting boring! In fact it has now just come to the point where I'm lookinf for a new exercise DVD to mix it up with.
All the sections are well thought out and choreographed (although my friend reckons you need good coordination to do them, though I have no trouble). The variety of difficulties is really helpful and Deanne is helpful and enthuthiastic without being annoying or patronising. Each section is about 15 minutes long and I generally do the warm up, Aeroburn and Beat Box to make one 40 min session which is perfect for me. As someone who has taken a lot of classes at a gym I can say that the exercises are well carried out and I feel safe doing them.
Only a few niggles which makes this a 4-star review instead of a 5-star review: The middle 'dance' section is a bit rubbish. I don't feel I'm getting a work out at all and reckon I look silly to boot! The Below the Belt section is very intense but I think it focuses too much on planks and not on general ab workouts that more people can do. Finally the cool down doesn't feature enough stretches, in my opinion, and all the bending over and standing up again gives me headrush!
Otherwise and excellent DVD - better than Davina!
So glad I bought it! November 22, 2008 This dvd is fantastic. I have about 7 or 8 fitness dvds sat on the shelf that have been used once and never seen the light of day since, but this one is great. I dont have very good coordination and usually flap around like a fish on dry land when doing exercise dvds, but this one is really eay to get into, there were parts i got a bit stuck with but im sure once ive done it afew times it will be fine. its set out in 4 parts so it seems to go really quick, you also get told how many songs each section will have so it makes it easier to stick it out, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel!! So glad i bought it. The woman who does the dvd, Deanna, is really good and very likeable, she makes it fun and easy.

Pump It Up The Ultimate Workout does exactly what it says on the box. Fantastic choreography to awesome club tracks, and Deanne Berry as the instructor has trained as a professional fitness instructor - and you can tell. Her moves are simple to follow - I only missed a few beats on the very first go - and she always encourages you to keep going and "go with your options"; both higher and lower intensity workouts are clearly demonstrated either side of Deanne.
The Ultimate Workout has 5 sections and runs for about an hour and a quarter in total. Each of the main middle sections are 15 minutes each; ideal if you want just a quick workout to fit around your schedule. The first section is a warm-up, and the next 3 are where you will burn your calories! Aerobics first, then dance, then beatbox. The beatbox section I cannot praise enough, it's fabulous for getting rid of stress,as well as toning and losing inches. The aerobics section is very easy to follow and will really make you sweat, and once you master the moves in the dance section you won't stop, you'll be doing crazy legs at every opportunity! All 3 middle sections together make for 45 minutes of exercise that will raise your heart-rate, very beneficial. There is then a toning section (although called 'Below the Belt' is is actually excellent for thighs, bums, arms and abs) and then a very relaxing cool-down, including all important stretches so you don't ache too much the next day.
Basically - if you're looking for a fitness DVD to do in your own home, look no further, you've found it.
Awesome Workout October 17, 2008 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is an awesome exercise DVD, I have only had it a week and now my right forearm has increased from 8" diameter to over 12" diameter - 5 minutes is how long my workouts usually last and my heart is pounding after the first 30 seconds of so - fantastic stuff.
Experience and practice required.... October 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have never done a Ministry of Sound DVD before so perhaps I was expecting something different but overall I was a bit disappointed - I enjoyed the warm-up and the 'Aeroburn' but found the Dance section (and to a certain extent the Boxing as well) very difficult to follow. I thought that with a lot of previous dance experience that I wouldn't struggle too much, but the routines are frustratingly complex and only briefly explained - several attempts and major concentration required.
If you are looking for something that you can just power through and feel good afterwards, then this is probably not for you.
