Great Read! July 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This might sound like a morbid read but it is written in a very light hearted and sensitive way.(ive just lent it to my mum so its not as grisly as it sounds) The book does not only just concentrate on the Hollywood stars deaths, it also gives a brief insight into the lives and careers of the celebs before they passed away. It covers everything from murders, drug overdoses and suicides to the peaceful passings of our favourite Hollywood stars from years gone by up until modern times. If you love everything Hollywood you will love this book.
hollywood glamourous? August 21, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am an avid fan of the glamour of old hollywood, this book offered a sad insight to the minds and lives of some of the stars (and faded stars) of hollywood. Taking the time to offer a breif history of the people written about it looked positively at there acheivements and honored there talents.
A fantasticly sad, decadent book.
Goulish but fun! November 30, 2004 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
If, like me, you skipped the Grayline Tour of the Stars Homes In LA in favour of the Graveline Tour (which goes to where clebs died, killed 'emselves, were murdered etc etc)...then ya gonna love this book!
When I got it I just couldnt put it down till I absorbed and memorised every last detail to entertain my friends at the lavish dinner parties I throw (you must come!).
There are few names that meant nothing to me, but on the whole it really is fun and makes a great pressie for anyone interested in hollywood and celebrity.
Not just death- but life October 20, 2004 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Although the book may seem morbid and unneccessary, it is actually a helpful and celebratory guide to who was who in the entertainment business. The title suggests the book will only be about death, but each person in it has quite an extensive biography about themselves before their deaths are mentioned. The majority of it is fascinating reading, although some celebrities are purely american- therefore other readers might get a bit confused as I did. Otherwise, it is a must for people interested in the entertainment world or even people who just want to know what became of their favourite stars. Some details are gruesome and far fetched (did we really need to know about James Dean's nearly severed head?) and, I felt, photos of Elvis Presley in his coffin were quite intrusive. But, you get what you pay for I suppose!
