5 out of 5 stars Review   March 8, 2003

I came across this book in the English language bookshop in Croatia. I had studied Tai Chi before in England some 8 years previously but had forgotten most of the moves. Unable to find a local course that taught the style I wanted I bought this book. It was a perfect find since it illustrated, in a beautifully clear manner, the style I once knew. After a month or so of daily study I was firmiliar once again with all the movements. But the book is not simply a step by step guide to Tai Chi but a whole holistic approach. There are various contextual chapters that touch on mental aspects as well as preparatory exercises. A few succinct chapters outlining the origins, history and develpment are also included. And finally there are a few personal statements from practitioners of all abilities so that even if one is working alone one still feels part of a whole movement. This book eminates a wonderful spirit which leaves one with the feeling of satisfaction, whether reading it or performing the moves. With the absence of a teacher this book is absolutely the next best thing. (Andrew in Croatia)
