Everything you need to knowJuly 30, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is the definitive guide to Paris -- at least for those, like myself, who had never been. From the planning process, through the daily ins-and-outs, there was hardly anything I could not find in this guide. It was my bible for the entire trip. I thought the maps were helpful, providing detailed views of each arrondisement. But you may want additional maps - specifically the large metro/city map which can be found almost anywhere, and a pocket-sized metro map so you don't have to fumble with a book or a big map when you're in the metro station. Two tips they left out: street signs are found on the buildings, and the tourism office gives bad advice more often than not. In short, get this book! You'll not regret it.
If you are going to Paris...GET THIS BOOK!December 18, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Let's Go Paris guide book is incredible!! I found it completely informative and a valuable asset while in Paris. This book is so thorough, it even tells you which Metro stops to avoid at night! Realistic prices are listed for hotel and dining, avoiding all unhappy surprises...the 'essentials' section was especially brilliant...i recommend this book wholeheartedly!! Bravo! 5 Stars!!
Poor map, other info available elsewhereSeptember 26, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The format looks great, a map and summaries of hotels, restuarants and attractions, but it did not work out at all for us.
The Lets Go Map takes a long, narrow north/south slice through the heart of tourist Paris which excluded many important areas, like the Pantheon, the flea markets, the interesting cemetaries, etc. During a two week stay, half the places we wanted to go were off the map. We ended up buying a Michelin street map which was great and had every street in the city!
