Nothing special about this book I certainly would rave about it Tuscany & Umbria however are a different matter!
Wish I'd bought this BEFORE I went...October 2, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
..instead of having to pay through the nose for a copy in a Sienese bookshop. As ever, LP guides have the feeling of being written by someone who's actually been there, and the advice on San Gimignano (get there early or go in Winter) would have been worth it alone.
This is an excellent guide, especially if - like us - you were roaming over both regions during your holiday. Highly recommended
Not as comprehensive as it could beOctober 19, 2005 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have used a number of Lonely Planet and Rough Guide books over the years and have always found them pretty comprehensive. The towns and cities detailed in this book are generally up to the usually high standard of Lonely Planet with maps etc. However, this book lacks a number of towns and historic sites in Tuscany, some of which are actually less tourist-crammed and more attractive than those listed.
