Great book, but not as a companion "Around London"November 7, 2005 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought the Ordnance Survey book "Cycle Tours: 24 One-day Routes Around London" from Amazon and I am delighted with it. When I saw the Philip's "Around London South" I snapped it up, hoping that it would contain more routes.
Sadly "Around London South" contains, with a single exception, the same South-of-London off-road trails found in the "Around London" book. While I expected a bit of overlap, but 7 quid for one new route is a little much.
Having said that, if you don't own any of these books, then I'd certainly recommend them. "Around London" has rekindled my interest in off-road cycling. The guides contain road and off-road routes that are well described and take into account the changes in terrain brought about by the changing seasons.
A great series - but too much overlap!
A must buy for all cyclistsMay 7, 2003 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book will offer several guides for cycling around the south of London, buy this book and you are guarenteed to enjoy hours, or even weeks of cycling. The book is filled with lots of useful information and has been a great book to have. *Must Buy*
A great day outApril 27, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Having recently purchased bicycles we were delighted with what we found in this practical book. Clear mapping, accurate route descriptions and above all beautiful routes through new and interesting scenery interspersed with some great pub lunches! We would thoroughly recommend the book to anyone interested in an energetic day out of discovery!
