I have been on a few routes from this book (on-road) and have been slightly disappointed with the indications and got off-trail a few times. Moreover The map is narrowly focused on the route and does not give you a chance if you get off the trail (as happened a few times after rather vague indications). These have made some of the journeys very frustrating.
Clearly needs updating as well: some of the "landmarks" as postboxes or road signs have changed/disappeared... And please, I am not a gardener... What do I know what a cypress tree looks like?? (indication for a turn - there are a few like this..)
Maybe good to get ideas for routes but not very user-friendly to use for first time on each route. Piece of advice: photocpy the route you are taking as the book is not really resistant (to sweat, rain or being tucked in a pocket), and because it is spiral-bound pages come off it.

We have used this guide for a few different day trips. They have been lots of fun, and would not have been possible without the guide.
Some of the trips are long, so you should be prepared to have a full day of cycling, or take a short cut on a busier road.
All routes are close to major train stations, it seems, and has pubs pointed out (and rated!) along the way.

A great book, with fun rides for the casual rider. For those who like beer Pub's are clearly marked and often a focus for the ride. For the serious rider the rating system rather over estimates the difficulty. Best to take a plastic cover as the writing tends to come off in heavy rain!

This book has been well researched and follows quiet country roads with excellent views. The directions are easy to follow, and the ratings of the rides (easy, moderate, strenuous) are realistic. I am yet to follow any of the off-road routes, but the on-road rides are fantastically quiet, and all with good parking, right at the start of the ride, and plenty of pubs for food on route. So get the book and get out and enjoy london! Thanks to Nick Cotton for writing this excellent guide, which means all my other guides are left on the shelf.
