I bought this book about 2 weeks ago and have already spent a few happy hours daydreaming. My husband and I are approaching our first wedding anniversary and I bought the book because I wanted to make sure we choose the right hotel for a lovely romantic weekend away. Looking at the pictures and the information I don't think we'll be dissappointed. It's true that many of the hotels featured are on the expensive side but there are some more reasonable entries. There is even a section at the front of the book indicating which hotels are in which price bracket. Fantastic!

After looking through this book and helpfully leaving it around our flat - my boyfirend finally got the hint. It was the best weekend, the hotels are beautiful and fully live up to the descriptions given in the book. Do not expect a cheap weekend, but the service, surroundings and the rooms are beautiful. Not a hint of chintz in sight, all my married friends have now borrowed it to suprise their wives with - I have started a revolution!!

This book lets you indulge yourself! You can visit the hotels in your mind that you can't afford to in real life. The book gives honest opinions of total luxury - don't expect any bargains. Planning a romantic weekend has never been so pleasureable!

Me and my other half have been to two hotels as a result of reading about them in this book and in both cases they totally lived up to the description the book gave them. If you hate chintz and like a bit of contemporary taste in your hotels, then you can rely on the advice given in the book. I know two's not many, but it means that we can be a lot more confident now on shelling out a few hundred quid for a nice weekend away if we know it's had the approval of Mr and Mrs Smith.
Also, it has some cool little tips more like you might expect to get from a friend who has been there (room 5 is the biggest, ask for a table by the fire etc). Plus you get a card thing that gives you 10% off the food. You can't go wrong!
The perfect Christmas stocking filler...November 10, 2003 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
...not just because I've bought in bulk to avoid this year's high street shopping hell or just becasue it'll look sexy on their coffee tables, but because it really delivers what it promises - genuine inside information that gaurantees you won't be dissapointed with your hotel trip (my little journey to the Yorkshire Moors and stay at the Smiths' recommended Star Inn was pure magic). No other guide book I know has given me such confidence. Friends and family will be thanking me well into next year...
