A must have for anyone who loves London. It arrived today; I've just spent a very happy hour enjoying it and know that it will be enjoyed again and again. You will not be disappointed - far from it.
Superb pictorial overview of the great cityOctober 15, 2006 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
It's easy to forget that London is the biggest city in Europe. It's also easy to forget on a busy, bustling day in the capital that it can also be quite beautiful. This book serves as a sumptuous reminder of both these facts, providing both the local and the tourist with a fantastic visual celebration of the British Metropolis. I don't claim to be an expert on photographic technique, but the results speak for themselves in my opinion. using a panaoramic camera to take spectacular long-exposure widescreen images, Mark Denton seems to have spent the better part of a year in photographing famous landmarks and quiet corners in all seasons, capturing thier magic. The book also has some lively text and elegant notes from Denton on the circumstances (and sometimes the techinical background) of how he took the beautiful pictures, which run the gamut of colour and mood. As a regular visitor to London, I feel Denton has captured it's majesty and I strongly recommend the book to anyone who loves the city - additionally, as a present for a visitor or friend overseas or elsewhere in the UK, it's just the job. A very handsome volume indeed !
