I found this guide to be an excellent. OK, I did have a whole week, but would have found it just as useful had I only had a few days. I didn't in fact follow the suggestions for daily planning, but found the level of detail very useful. As for the recommendations, we ate in a couple of recommended places and they lived up to expectation, as did our Hotel, also recommended - although I'd booked it before buying the book. It's helpful to have the different areas of Florence so well defined and the maps are good. And since we also visited Pisa and Sienna, were also glad of the info provided for those cities.

The whole guide is split up into different regions of Florence and assumes you have a week to visit the place as each region gives you a day by day plan. If you're there for a day or so, it is pretty useless and very difficult to use. I wish I'd looked at it in a shop before I bought it. Having said all that, info and pictures are quite good. Restaurant recommendations dubious.
