Maybe the best of the pocket-sized guides?March 14, 2004 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
OK, it may not be as comprehensive as the AA Spiral Guide, but if you want to explore the island outside the big southern resorts and yet don't want to shell out the 9.99 for the bigger book, then this little book will do you very well.
Andrew Sanger does an excellent job, leading the would-be explorer to all of Tenerife's 'major sights', and indeed to a great many lesser-known destinations, with helpful information given on opening times of attractions and museums, directions for getting there and a rough guide as to what you can expect to pay to get in. It's less easy to comment on all the recommended places to stay and to eat, but the selection seems comprehensive and those I have visited seem accurately described.
I'm a particular fan of the 'Top Ten' section at the start of the book and would concur 100% with the author's selection - put these at the top of your 'to see' list and then pack this little guide in your suitcase. You'll be glad you had it with you!
