Very good hiking mapDecember 30, 2008 I bought this and used it as a back-up / cross reference with "Tenerife: the finest valley and mountain walks" (Klaus & Annette Wolfsperger), which is not its natural companion (but worked fine). It's accurate and up-to-date and at a lot more detailed scale than the maps in the Tenerife book, which helped me realise quicker when I was off trail (completely different to being lost!). I don't know if I'd call it 'super durable' but it did the job, is still in reasonable condition, although a plastic wallet would be nice. Oh, and it's easy to fold up - not like some crazy maps! It would be nice if the interior (of Tenerife) section included the ascent of Teide. Fortunately, we found the trail to Teide very easy to follow, but in poor weather this would have been handy. For the money, it's a good buy and a lot less hassle than trying to find a comparable product once your holiday is underway and you just want to get on with doing stuff.
Read the description carefully...November 14, 2008 When I saw the title Tenerife Hiking Map I expected *all* of Tenerife to be included, not just the areas in an accompanying book. I must admit I did not read the description carefully enough, so I admit it's my fault that this map did not meet my expectations. So if you want to holiday in Tenerife and go hiking with this map, make sure you buy the book too. I've marked this map down because a) I think the title is a little misleading, and b) it only includes a small portion of the Teide National Park which I believe is a major hiking area, and therefore a gross omission !!!
Excellent map for the best walking on the islandAugust 27, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I like the clear easy to read mapping which manages to be highly detailed without seeming over complicated. We covered quite a lot of ground in two weeks and found walks we would not have discovered without this map which inspired confidence. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the island who wants to get away from the tourists and into the real Tenerife.
brilliant large scale mappingMarch 1, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm just back from 3 weeks in Tenerife walking most days using Walk Tenerife book and the Hiking Map. While the Hiking Map only covers the main walking regions its level of detail is way ahead of any other maps I have seen. The new Anaga map, while at 30k scale the others are at 25k, is stunning allowing for a lot more confident adventuring than just the routes in Walk Tenerife. High altitude regions include the Paisaje Lunar, Las Canadas and Forteleza areas, all in much more detail than any other map I have seen. Highly recommended, especially if you use Walk Tenerife book which I also highly recommend.
