Beats other guides hands downOctober 15, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having bought several B&B guides for a touring holiday of Ireland, we found this guide to be the most useful in terms of accurate descriptions, good directions and ease of use. We like our home comforts, but also like to find places with character, quirkiness and with friendly hosts. This guide took the guesswork out of the selection process. We stayed at 4 places within the guide and were more than delighted with every one. We would definitely use other 'Special Places to Stay' guides in the future.
Special Places to Stay: IrelandJune 28, 2002 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Although I am Irish I recently bought this for my boyfriend thinking that this might give hime a few ideas...but alot of the places that I would like to stay in or would suggest to visitors are not in it.(Eg. Kinity Castle, Birr.,Bunratty park hotel...) My finding were that the pricing was a bit out after ringing one place and being quoted differently. I also thought that there could have been a few more options for the more "touristic" areas due to high amounts of unavailability.. The Board Failte guide to places would be better and more cost effective..
A guide embracing Ireland's most charming places to stayJune 29, 2001 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
An entertaining book on Ireland showing a variety of delightful places to stay. Staying at a different place each night of our stay, the book became invaluable. The places were easy to find from the directions given, the descriptions were entertaining and revealing. This colourful guide was a pleasure to read, each page giving you a snap shot of Irish life, whether you are travelling or not. A thoroughly honest guide to help you to choose special places far removed from the usual "run of the mill" Bed and Breakfast. This book embraces all Ireland's charm. Read it and go there!
