an ideal first Christmas story, with real meaningDecember 19, 2008 I was looking for a Christmas story to read to my daughter so that she grows up understanding the true meaning of Christmas. After one wrong turn, I found this book and I've been delighted. It tells the story beautifully, with gorgeous detailed pictures, and covers the important elements of the story. Highly recommended.

Another excellent `Christmas-time' read with me story from author/illustrator, Ian Beck, who relates a lovely version of the Nativity tale. Simply told with sufficient text to keep the interest, accompanied with beautiful illustrations to encourage even the youngest reader to turn to the next page.
26 high quality shiny pages, opening with:-
`The story of the birth of Jesus began in a garden in the city of Nazareth, where Mary and Joseph lived.......
and ending with:-
`And, now, thousands of years later, at every Christmas we remember the marvellous story of how Jesus was born.'
A lovely version of the Nativity.November 9, 2006 41 out of 42 found this review helpful
I bought this book as my two year old has begun to take a large interest in Christmas. I wanted to teach her the story of baby Jesus, so it's not all about Father Christmas and Presents! We both have really enjoyed reading this book (all twelve times!!). There are some lovely pictures to go along with the story, It picks up on the key points so it is not too long and keeps you interested all the way through. I would recommend this to anyone who has small children as a first book of the Nativity.
