Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars RAPUNZEL, a popular tale re-told   October 7, 2008

by Hilary Robinson for the LEAPFROG FAIRY TALE series of books.

From the back cover:-

'Rapunzel has been locked in a tower by a wicked witch. A prince falls in love with her. But then the witch finds out....'

32 high quality shiny pages in the popular 2-page spread format. Numbered pages with clear, easy-to-follow text.
Beautifully illustrated in pastels throughout, by Martin Impey, this super book is further enhanced by relevant facial expressions, some speech bubbles with a repeat element.

Example of text:-

'Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl with long, golden hair.
Her name was Rapunzel. A wicked witch hid her in a tower with no door.
Rapunzel could not escape. She was so bored that she sang all day long........'

...and all the pretty singing attracts the attention of a passing prince who falls in love with her.
He watches how the witch gets into the tower and replicates the situation.
Things take a turn for the better... for a while....until the escape route is compromised, and life gets more complicated, for another couple of years!
But, in typical fairy tale fashion - it is all right at the end!

'Leapfrog has been specially designed to fit the requirements of the National Literacy Strategy. It offers real books for beginning readers by top authors and illustrators.'

There are a number of 'Leapfrog' stories to choose from and these are listed on the very last page.
