5 out of 5 stars Excellent ideas for lego   December 9, 2008
I bought this when my son was a bit younger than he is now,and even then he enjoyed helping me make them. We made them together, with me doing some bits, and he, others. Often he put parts together with me guiding him to where to put them, and teaching him how to follow the instructions himself too.

He is 5 now, and so needs less help from me, but i think its a great thing to do together anyway-

The contraptions are excellent- the coat hanger daredevil is fairly simple and brilliant - my son (and me) loved seeing him zoom across the room on a piece of string,
the balloon powered car, and rubber band powered car are easy, and effective-
as are the extremely easy 'never look back' machine, and the skittle tops-
the slightly more complicated ones, such as the sweet dispenser (i think we used magnetic balls or similar instead of sweets) are also excellent - they take a bit extra time (with some, we had to make a bit, then have a break, then another time, make some more, but older children will probably be able to make them fairly quickly).

I'm glad I bought it him, and am interested in similar book that I've just found that is out too, as its good to find lots of different and unusual things to do with lego- this book allows them to make good contraptions, as well as learning some of the mechanics that can be used to inspire their/our own models too.

5 out of 5 stars Bargain fun!   April 6, 2008

Having a great time with my son going through this book. Excellent, easy to follow format with a really fun approach this book has succeeded in dragging my son (and me ;-]) away from the xbox. Totally recommended.

5 out of 5 stars A clever idea and lots of fun   January 29, 2008

I've had a lot of fun building these with my children too. Yes too complicated for little ones all by themselves but a really neat idea and the extra bricks you need for some of the more complicated models are pretty basic ones so most families who already play with lego will probably already have them. The instructions cover a surprisingly large number of different models with not very many pieces. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars A really exciting book for lego freaks   May 8, 2004

A great book with all sorts of fantastic ideas. My son loves the candy machine best, but there are all sorts of other interesting ideas as well. I would recommend it for an older child, as the projects are quite challenging.

4 out of 5 stars Lego addict   July 14, 2003

Brought for my 5 year old lego addict this proved to be good value for money and a useful addition to his kit. Not all models are possible without additional lego which we didn't have however held his interest as much as any other kit, but provided alternatives (machines rather than robots). Instructions are easy to understand and book is well illustrated.
