5 out of 5 stars Life's a problem!   October 6, 2008

Upon reading the foreword of this book, I felt elated and empowered for the first time. My 8-year-old boy has always been 'not quite mainstream behaviour'. Enough to make life challenging, without understanding why.
Now, for the first time, I recognised my child in the description of the target audience - he isn't borderline autistic or Asbergers or some other 'label' after all - but he is extraordinarily negative about everything and broods or 'his brain gets stuck' on the bad things that happen each day (minor things, such as no croissants for breakfast!) so that his entire day is ruined.
He is an avid reader, and just drank in the information and ideas in this lovely book with no prompting from me. He has put into action the many ideas and strategies put forward. He loves this book because he can implement plans to change the things he hates about himself. It has helped him and us to understand his feelings a lot. Though not an instant cure for this extreme child, I cannot recommend it enough for anyone who just cannot see a way over life's hurdles.
