BTEC National Health StudiesJanuary 30, 2003 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am a student studying this course and i have found the book very helpful. The units are set out well and contain useful information. The use of diagrams helps a lot. I especially like the Human Anatomy and Physiology section, however, i have found that the Equality, diversity, and rights section is not so useful.
A thoroughly recommended textAugust 26, 2002 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
As a tutor of health studies, particularly this course, I found this book gives a very good overview of all the 8 core units attached to the BTEC National Health Studies course as well as 5 of the optional units. It is a clearly set out textbook which doesn't expect too much of the reader - very useful if they have little, or no, knowledge of health studies at all. It has ideas for assessment criteria for the tutor as well as areas where the student can work through the text themselves. Case studies are used which I particularly like, as they give a variety of scenarios for students to consider. It is an equivalent text to the AVCE Health & Social Care text book. I have recommended it as a core text for my college and will certainly purchase a copy for personal use.
