4 out of 5 stars Not a bad book at all...   October 7, 2008

I am currently doing medicine, and used this book for Biochem. The book is very well organised, and the layout is excellent, with bold writing and clear diagrams. Another useful feature is a summary section at the end which is very useful for revision, or a quick reference when time is short. The only one slight downfall is that there are a few in depth biochemical topics missing, but these can be found on the internet. So all in all I would say this is definatly a book worth considering.

5 out of 5 stars Lippincott's Illustrated Biochemistry Review   September 23, 2007
A great work - it made a complex subject so easily understandable with its careful step wise and clear explainations and diagrams. I actually like biochemistry now- I used to hate it. In fact, I was so inspired that I went on to get...and enjoy, the Pharmacology and Microbiology books in the same series they're super for both undergraduate and post graduate revision. Highly recommended by a very satisfied customer - well done Lippincott and Dr Champe!

5 out of 5 stars THE best biochemistry book you can have as an undergrad   November 7, 2003

I cannot understand why people don't like this book. It is THE answer to all your problems if you have difficulty understanding or remembering biochemistry topics and concepts. I can only imagine that those people who negatively criticise it fall into the minority, ie those who never had a problem understanding this subject and wish to have a deeper understanding of it.

This is NOT a book to use if you are looking for greater understanding behind a topic, but it is the book for everyone who has difficulty with the subject in any way. Diagrams are clear and concise, concepts are laid out accessibly and the language is easy to follow.

Long Live Lippincott!!!!

I didn't think it was a good book at all. The detail was lacking in most areas, overall not much use for a science degree, I believe it's more for medics!!
